The Colony is a nice place to spend some time when you don't feel like fighting bad guys. To get access to this rather large mini-game you will have to rescue the fairy from her cell in the BioCorp Lab. She will give you the Fairy Drops, and item that can be used to transport your party to and from the colony itself. It can be used anywhere outside of battle, as long as all hostile enemies in the current area have been killed. The town uses a different timeline than the game. The colony grows with every battle that you win and every Genic that you kill.
Feb 22, 2009 breath of fire dragon quarter ending. This feature is not available right now. Please try again later. I frequently count Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter among my favorite games when talking to people about games, but I hadn't really played it much recently.
The progress that you make here is retained even after restoring your game, so don't worry about lost progress! The basic structure of this game is as follows. You deposit money to support the colony at the start. You hire ants with it. You have the ants dig out the tunnels beneath the starting area.
As they do this they will discover ten rooms and a dungeon. Various traps litter the hallways - falling rocks, Ant Lions and even a lake.
Your ants can be knocked out but not killed by these things.Ants have four attributes - hit points, smarts, taste and age. Their hit point is the measure of physical strength and endurance.
Smarts is their intelligence. Taste is their artistic skill. Finally as they age, ants have a chance to increase their skills. They pass away at about age 50. Balance your ants to jobs that they are suited for to earn more money.I don't want to get into the specifics of each room. I never used the colony much, except to get to Kokon-Horay and to buy skills. Here are some things that I liked about the town.
The Market sells great weapons and armor for characters - it also contains some unique skills like Ryu's Hex. The Research Lab can be used to research building or items - research items to get some rare items, change the room type to something else and then back again, and then get all the items again. The bank can be used to make yourself rich (invest, invest, invest!). The Cafeteria, Newspaper, Stockhouse and Concert Hall are mere diversions (I didn't bother much with them). The Training Hall can be used to build up new ants. I never got anything out of the Explorer or the Review Board rooms.
